Walked in and Gina was very helpful and nice. Recommend a couple of different wines. She also said that on Fridays its a free wine and beer tasting so you can get comfortable trying new ones before purchasing.Overall really enjoyed my experience.
Compared to the other two grapes and hops locations i've been to, it's kind of a sad little spot. We homebrew, so it's disappointing that they don't carry homebrew supplies. It'd be nice if they offered an ordering service. Also, we were in the market for two sixtels of craft brew for a party but they don't order kegs, so we had to go somewhere else - could've made money there.
Awesome place with a great selection! Friendly, helpful staff!!
This is a cute little store that sells wine and craft beer. Prices are slightly inflated, but it's a local small business, so if you can afford it, I think it's important to support local over large-chain stores, and just spend the extra couple of bucks. The knowledge of the staff has been hit or miss on both the wine and the beer - I asked for a bone dry sparkling and was recommended a grand couvee. I wish they'd carry more belgians, but it doesn't seem like most of their beer stock rotates much.
The staff is nice, but the place is small and has a small inventory as far as beer goes. I don't drink wine so I can't really comment on that, but the beer is a little over priced. I can go right down the street and get the same six pack a dollar or two cheaper at Food Lion, they should do some local price comparison. I only go there if I am in a bind or want to order something special since they are only about a mile away. You would probably be better off just driving to a Harris Teeter or Triangle Wine in Southern Pines for better selection and cheaper prices. Also, I home brew and it kind of sucks that they quit carrying home brew supplies!
I have made several trips to Grapes and Hops as I am attempting to brew my own beer. Without the help of the sales staff I would not know what I am doing. They are very knowledgeable and eager to share their knowledge. What's more, there were several items I thought I needed and they convinced me not to buy so I wouldn't be wasting my money.
Overall, I'm glad it's there and will stop in every once in awhile, but I'd surprised if this location is profitable.
Of course the beer selection is very good, many hard to find brands and the woman working there made some great suggestions.
