My son has played summer basketball through the Fayetteville Rec two summers in a row. The first year at College Lakes and last year at Kiwanis. Both years the games were played at this rec center. I didn't have any issues those times. During winter basketball you have to play in your assigned district. So this winter we have to practice and play here. Ooomg! It's been an experience already. My daughter's coach is wonderful, but my son's coach is another story. He does not communicate with the parents. This man has yet to say two words to me. He has scheduled additional practices and has told the kids instead of the parents. I have to call the rec center because I have no contact information for the coach. One time he scheduled an extra practice. I drove there and my son was the only kid from his team there. I see the coach sitting there and he says absolutely nothing. There were other kids on the court so I assumed he was waiting for them to clear the court. Guess what happens next? He leaves. I'm puzzled so I walked up to the office, and the guy in there says he cancelled practice. We called all the parents. I had no missed calls from anyone. He says my number won't go through. I'm still puzzled by that because everyone else in the world can call me. I understand these coaches are volunteering but the very least they can do is use basic communication skills. Today my son tells me his coach told him practices are now on different days. That was the final straw. I decided to go ahead and write this review. In addition to all of this the lady in the gym yells at kids and it's crazy. Don't get me wrong the kids that are there are BAD as hell but yelling at kids that you didn't give birth to is unprofessional and unacceptable in my eyes. Then this lady says no drinking in the gym....*blank stare* you want my child to practice without water? No she wants them to practice and leave their water outside the gym on the ledge. Ok, I have several problems with this. 1. Why have a gym if they cannot drink water when it's needed. 2. 15 kids have water on a ledge outside. How is everyone going to distinguish who's is who's? 3. My son is inside the gym practicing. Who is watching his water to make sure someone doesn't grab the wrong one or that a kid doesn't steal the water bottle. (We don't typically bring the regular Walmart water bottles. It's the plastic reusable ones with characters on it). As a matter of a fact the first time she said this nonsense to us walking into practice I stood outside with the water bottle and sent my son in to practice. While outside a dad snatched his kid up for drinking out of a bottle that wasn't his. Disgusting!!!! This is why I was watching my son'a bottle and why I think her rule is absolutely crazy. Games start soon. Is my son suppose to 1. leave the bench 2. Come find me in the stands (because I refuse to leave his water outside the gym) 3. Get the water and take it outside the gym and drink it 4. Run back to me and give it to me in the stands 5. Run back to the bench...this sounds so absurd. I usually do the Ymca sports. I thought rec would be better but I'm really questioning my decision now.
Great place for the kids. Friendly staff. Nice little facility. My boys play parks and rec b-ball there.
Kingdom Fitness II really works your body out with Zumba. I enjoy going here for fitness.
