- Trash service. Yes its a mandatory $20 but every other Apt I have lived at you had to take your trash to the dumpster and the dumpster always became a disaster. Its much more sanitary and convenient for somebody to come get your trash at your door.
- How people can complain about the front desk girls is beyond me.
I am renewing my lease for a third year and have really enjoyed my apartment so far. I'll do a good ol' Pros and Cons plus address some on the common complains I've read since they seem to mostly be posted by people who are complaining about "Apartment life" and not specifically The Heights at McArthur Park compared to other Apartments.
- Somebody really complained about helicopters. Do you know where you live? It certainly doesn't shake the walls or really disturb anything.
PROS
- The dog park is mostly dirt. You go and try to grow grass in an area designated for animals to run around in. I'm sure your dog isn't bothered by either. This complex has dog poop bins with free bags everywhere, that really outweighs the lack of vegetation in the dog park area IMO.
- The dishwasher. I grew up without a dishwasher so not a big deal to me but my wife hates it and claims she would give the complex a 3/5 just for the dishwasher.
- Maintenance guys are very friendly as well. I trust them in my Apt when we are not home. If you have an issue you simply go online and fill out a work form.
- The walls are about as this as your average apartment. That's just part of Apartment life. If you yell or have loud sex I can hear you. I don't care but my wife isn't a fan of hearing you scream in ecstasy. You may have to ask your neighbors to turn their music down, you may hear somebody if they're yelling. That's just a part of apartment life. Good news is most neighbors here are responsible adults so I've not had any issue with crazy late night parties.
Since I have been here the staff has been great and always very welcoming any time I needed anything. Always very friendly and work orders have always gotten a very fast response time. The amenities are a plus and I am happy we picked this place to live and I recomend this neighborhood to anyone looking for a place to live.
- Parking. If you get home late it can be harder to find parking closer to your Apt. The only thing that bothers me is that the parking passes are useless. Nobody will come and tow your neighbors guests who are not parked in the guest spaces.
- The front gate is never closed. Even when it is people just wait for a resident and follow them in. Go compare your rent to a place with a gate that has a security guard. Whether the gate is closed or not does not make this place safe or not. They have a cop as a resident here, that is much more valuable then a dinky metal gate.
- The public park connected to the complex is really nice for running and walking your dog. Has a playground as well.
Nice complex. Great staff. Love the apartment layout. Can't really complain. Love it here!
Cons:
Staff is helpful and maintenance get things done quickly. Safe, quiet, and in a great location. It really is home to me.
This area is a little oasis in college lakes. The apartment complex folks were always there when I needed them. They were there for me when I had to deploy and were there for me after deployment to move my family back in before I redeployed. The staff is prompt and straightforward and I wouldn't ask for anything else.
- Gym. Having a gym with free weights and treadmills is very convenient. It' an apartment gym so if you need racks for heavy lifting you should probably go to a real gym.
- Location. Thanks to the extension of I-295 it is a quick interstate drive to Ft Bragg. The best part is so many military live in Hope Mills when you are going to or leaving base at rush hour times you hop onto 295 and skip all the terrible traffic on All American and Yadkin.
- The Office staff are extremely friendly and helpful. I can't understand how anybody has had issues with them. I also don't walk into their office and rant about issues that are out of their control, as I've seen others do. Even when I've seen tenants complain about really dumb stuff the staff dealt with it very professionally.
- The Apartments are very spacious and I really like the layout. The kitchen has an island and great set up for having people over. I never feel cramped for space.
